THE REPTILES AND AMPHIBIANS OF LOUGH CARRA

There are only three species of reptiles and ambphibians that occur in the Lough Carra area, and no systematic work has been carried out on any of them.

The three species are....

VIVIPAROUS LIZARD  Lacerta vivipara

Known from a small number of sightings on the Partry House Estate and at Kilkeeran.

COMMON FROG Rana temporaria

Widespread and abundant throughout the area.

SMOOTH NEWT Triturus vulgaris

Widespread and fairly common in this area.
